QUINCY -- The Quincy High School softball team combined for 24 hits in a 7-1, 14-4 doubleheader sweep of Macomb on Thursday afternoon.
QHS (12-18) scored three runs in the first inning of the first game on a bases-loaded walk to Megan Bridgman, a sacrifice fly from Hannah Fuglaar and Kaylee Young's RBI single. After Macomb (13-18) scored a run in the top of the third, Quincy scored two more in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles from Kiley Espinoza and Young. The Blue Devils added runs in the fifth and sixth to seal the victory.
Abbie Neally allowed only one earned run while striking out seven in tossing a complete game. Roni Wingerter had two singles and a double for the Blue Devils.
Macomb led 1-0 after the first inning in the first game, but QHS scored two in the first, two in the second and three times in the third. QHS then put the game away with a five-run fourth inning that was highlighted by a two-run single by Neally and a two-run triple from Wingerter.
Wingerter, Bridgman and Espinoza combined for nine RBIs and eight hits. MaKayla Wand threw the first five innings while striking out four to pick up the victory.
