Three people were hospitalized with moderate injuries after a Friday crash on Interstate 72.

An Illinois State Police report said Staphon D. Williams II, 18, of Quincy, was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy east on I-72 in Pike County at 11:50 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and traveled across the center median. The vehicle overturned, eventually coming to rest on the north side of the highway.

Williams and an unidentified 16-year-old passenger from Quincy were taken to Hannibal (Mo.) Regional Hospital. A second passenger, Kalil Taylor, 18, of Quincy, was taken to Blessing Hospital.

Williams suffered moderate injuries, and the female and Taylor suffered minor injuries.

Williams was cited for improper lane usage. All three individuals were wearing seat belts, police said.

Assisting were the Pike County Sheriff's Department and fire departments from Hull, Barry and Kinderhook.
