To The Herald-Whig:
I was simply horrified that Quincy Alderman Mike Rein, R-5, thought the problem with homeless cats would be shooting them as "he feels would offer a more permanent solution." The only thing that keeps people that feel like he does is a city ordinance that keeps anyone from shooting cats or discharging a firearm in the city.
I am in favor of the T-N-R (trap, neuter, release) program. That would greatly reduce the homeless cats, and it wouldn't cost the city anything. What is the problem for the City Council?
If anyone would only tame and adopt one cat and have it spayed or neutered, that would reduce the problem. Cats can't help that they are homeless, and they make the best pets! I have adopted three homeless cats, and I have all of them spayed, chipped, vaccinated and dewormed.
