BOWLING GREEN, Mo. -- A two-vehicle crash Monday night in Pike County left six people with serious injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Michael J. Smith, 19, of Bowling Green was westbound on Route UU at County Road 139 at 9:38 p.m. The patrol said the vehicle crossed over the center line and struck head on an eastbound 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Janet L. Lucas, 62, of Bowling Green. The impact caused the van to travel off the right side of the road and strike a utility pole.
Smith and two passengers, Kenneth C. Bartley, 23, of Vandalia, and Brittany A. Ralph, 21, of Bowling Green, were taken by Survival Flight to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Another passenger in the vehicle, Adriana Shoemaker, 18, of Curryville, was taken by Staff of Life to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.
Lucas was taken by Van Far Ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. A passenger in her vehicle, Debra J. Davis, 64, of Bowling Green, was taken by Survival Flight to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.
The patrol said both drivers and all passengers, except Bartley, were wearing seat belts.
