Canton man airlifted to Blessing Hospital after Wednesday crash

MONTICELLO, Mo. -- A Canton man was airlifted to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., for treatment of serious injuries suffered in a two-car crash Wednesday in Lewis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Danika N. Wallace, 32, of Ewing, was heading west on Mo. 16 and attempted to turn left onto Route Z at 3:50 p.m. when it was struck in the rear by a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driven by Jason T. Poulter, 18, of Canton.

Poulter was airlifted to Blessing, while Wallace was taken to Blessing Hospital by Lewis County Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

Police said Poulter was not wearing a seat belt.

Assisting at the scene were the Lewis County Sheriff's Department and Canton Fire and Rescue.
