QU men end season with victory

LIBERTY, Mo. -- Justin Armfield scored his first goal of the season, which gave the Quincy University men's soccer team a 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over William Jewell in the season-finale Wednesday at Greene Stadium.

The victory snaps a six-game losing streak for the Hawks (6-10, 5-9 GLVC).

QU peppered the William Jewell net with seven shots in the first 27 minutes. Two minutes later, Eddie Plesha set up Armfield's goal. The Hawks took that lead into halftime.

William Jewell had 14 shots, but only six were on goal.

QU goalkeeper Nate Griffin made all six saves, and he had two saves in the final eight minutes to preserve the Hawks' victory.

QU had 27 shots and 11 were on goal.
