Neff, Frazee earn state medals

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Devin Neff capped his cross country career with a state medal.

The Mark Twain senior took seventh in the Class 2 state championship meet by finishing in 17 minutes, 15.52 seconds at Oak Hills Golf Course. He was six seconds from placing in the top 5.

Saxony Lutheran's Caleb Cornelius won the individual title in 16:22.55, and Lamar won the team title with 48 points.

Clark County's Nathan Frazee finished in 12th place in 17:23.90 to also earn a state medal. His teammate Cole Kirchner finished 43rd in 18:03.38 as the only Indians to finish in the top 50.

Clark County placed eighth out of 16 teams.

Palmyra's Aaron Stamper had the best finish for his team by placing 69th in 18:31. Palmyra's Brett Griesbaum was 85th in 18:43.96.

Palmyra finished in 12th place.

In the Class 2 girls race, Clark County's Sierra Stewart finished 12th in 20:46.60 to also earn a state medal.

South Shelby's Meredith O'Neal was 34th in 21:33.27. Highland's Makayla Dickerson was 38th in 21:42.89.

Palmyra's Lydia Szarka was 43rd in 21:54.37, and Clark County's Madison Kauth was 44th in 21:58.60.
