WAYLAND, Mo. -- A Thursday afternoon crash south of Wayland injured a Minnesota man.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 1995 Peterbilt tractor trailer driven by Curtis S. Hunziker, 61, of Canton, and a 2006 Freightliner tractor trailer driven by Charles McCann, 32, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., were traveling north on U.S. 61, seven miles south of Wayland, at 3:25 p.m. The patrol said the Peterbilt pulled into the path of the Freightliner and struck it in the towed unit before traveling off the left side of the road and partially ejecting the driver.

McCann, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Clark County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., with serious injuries.

The patrol was assisted by the Clark County Sheriff's Department and Clark County First Responders.
