HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Jim Waddell is speaking at a free program at Hannibal Free Public Library, 200 S. Fifth. In his talk, Waddell will reveal several of Twain's inspirations for "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." Waddell will offer "Finding Tom Sawyer" at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13. The public is invited to attend these free programs.
Waddell has portrayed Mark Twain since 1995. He performs regularly at both the Mark Twain Cave Complex and the Mark Twain Museum, both located in Hannibal, Mo. However, his portrayal has taken him as far away as Tokyo and has been broadcast on "CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood." Waddell was a performer in Branson for several years prior to relocating to Hannibal. He grew up on the banks of the Mississippi just 30 miles south of Hannibal.
