FULTON, Mo. -- Despite trailing by as many as 22 points in the second half, the Culver-Stockton College men's basketball team whittled at the deficit.

It was too little, too late.

C-SC got as close as 10 points after a 3-pointer by Tarae Potter with 1:15 remaining in regulation, but fell in a 95-83 loss to William Woods Thursday evening.

Poor shooting hurt the Wildcats (1-3) in the first half as C-SC made just eight of 27 attempts to trail 48-35 at halftime. Free throws, however, kept C-SC in the game as the Wildcats made 16 in the first half.

C-SC finished 34 for 45 from the foul line. C-SC shot 42 percent from the floor.

Mike Johnson had a game-high 21 points for C-SC, while Potter had 18 points.
