To The Herald-Whig:

The headline in the Friday, Nov. 10, Quincy Herald-Whig that read "One decade, 1,037 trees," shows how much Quincy Trees for Tomorrow program has helped in many ways in continuing to receive Tree City USA each year.

I would like to congratulate the members of Quincy Trees for Tomorrow and the members of the Quincy Tree Commission for their continued efforts in recognizing the importance and the value of trees.

When I was the director of public works for the city of Quincy, the Quincy Tree Commission was created. Many items of importance were adopted. I am so pleased to see that the commissioners are doing a great job.

My sincere thanks to Chairman Anne St. John of the Quincy Tree Commission and to the members of Quincy Trees for Tomorrow for all of your hard work.

Leon Kowalski

Ex-director of Public Works
