SUTTER, Ill. -- A home in rural Hancock County sustained heavy damage in a fire Wednesday night.

Warsaw Fire Chief Steve Siegrist told The Herald-Whig's news-gathering partners at WGEM that the fire started in the kitchen at 1126 E. County Road 350, southeast of Sutter, shortly after 6 p.m.

Siegrist said it's unclear what caused the fire.

The fire caused heavy fire damage to the kitchen, and smoke and heat damage to other parts of the home. Siegrist said the family of three that lives in the house will have to stay elsewhere overnight.

Siegrist said one woman was home when the fire started and she managed to get out safely.

No other information was immediately available.
