JWCC beats Johnson County once again

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- It wasn't nearly as easy, but the John Wood Community College men's basketball team got the same result.

For the second time in three weeks, the Trail Blazers beat Johnson County Community College, knocking off the No. 17 Cavaliers 68-62 Friday night.

JWCC (6-3) beat Johnson County 91-51 at home Nov. 10.

Aziz Fadika had 16 points and 13 rebounds as the Trail Blazers overcome its struggles shooting. JWCC shot just 14 percent from 3-point range and 38 percent from the field.

Chima Oduocha scored 15 points in 15 minutes off the bench for JWCC, while Mason Schlotzhauer had 13 points and five rebounds. John Wood outscored Johnson County 32-20 in the paint.

The Trail Blazers finish the road trip at 2 p.m. Saturday against Highland Community College, which is ranked 15th in NJCAA Division I. It will be the Trail Blazers' sixth game against a nationally ranked team.
