QUINCY -- The Lincoln Academy of Illinois named Quincy University senior Alyssa Vitale of Naperville as a recipient of the prestigious Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Award for 2017. The award is presented to a senior from each four-year college or university in Illinois who demonstrates excellence in the classroom and leadership throughout the campus and community.

Vitale, a psychology major with a minor in American Sign Language, is a community development and most philanthropic award recipient. She is an honors student, an admissions ambassador and tutor on campus for multiple psychology classes. Vitale is involved in Alpha Omicron Pi, a women's fraternity; Psi Chi, an honors society in psychology; Quincy University Student Interpreter Association and the National Panhellenic Association.

She has volunteered her service through QU at every Day of Service. Vitale also volunteers at the Quincy Humane Society, Quincy Catholic Charities and does philanthropy with AOII to raise funds for Juvenile Arthritis.

"I am very honored to receive the Lincoln Laureate Award. It's pretty crazy to me that out of all the amazing graduating seniors here at Quincy University, the University chose me. I am truly grateful and excited to attend the ceremony this November," Vitale said.

After graduating from Quincy University, Vitale plans to go to graduate school for a doctorate in clinical psychology.
