QHS art teacher is featured artist at Hy-Vee

QUINCY -- Local artist Blane Barnes of Quincy will be featured at the Art Center's satellite location at the Broadway Hy-Vee Market Café and Bar in Quincy.

Barnes received his bachelor's degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington and his master's degree in art from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. He has taught K-12 art for 31 years and is currently the art teacher at Quincy High School.

Barnes has always admired the artwork of Edward Hopper and Georgia O'Keefe. His paintings range from brightly colored abstracts to realistic landscapes. Barnes has exhibited his artwork at the Heath Gallery at John Wood Community College and at Quincy Public Schools.
