Canton can't recover from early deficit

CLARKSVILLE, Mo. -- The Canton girls basketball team couldn't dig itself out of a first-quarter hole and fell to Clopton Tuesday 52-46.

Canton trailed 22-13 after one quarter and used a 16-11 spurt in the final quarter to make it close, but it couldn't complete the comeback.

Laken Hugenberg led Canton (1-4) with 16 points, and Olivia Jarvis added 15.
