Woman arrested after buying pain medication in parking lot

QUINCY -- A Monday afternoon drug investigation resulted in the arrest of a Quincy woman.

Master Sgt. Patrick Frazier of the Illinois State Police said that Christine M. Birkemeier, 50, of 3339 State, was arrested after she reportedly purchased pain medication from a West-Central Illinois Task Force inspector in a parking lot.

Birkemeier also allegedly was found to be in possession of pain medications without valid prescriptions during a search of her vehicle. Birkemeier was taken to the Adams County Jail were she was held on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and theft under $500 involving an unrelated incident.

The West Central Illinois Task Force was assisted in the investigation by the Quincy Police Department.
