HANNIBAL, Mo. -- A health care services company and a business that distributes information about health care professionals and providers recently recognized Hannibal Regional Hospital for quality in taking care of patients.
Kindred Healthcare ranked Hannibal Regional No. 1 in the region for inpatient rehabilitative care, No. 1 nationwide in length-of-stay efficiency, and gave the hospital's inpatient rehab team the award "Top 10 in Kindred" for quality.
Healthgrades also recognized the hospital for the third year in a row for being in the top 10 percent nationwide for joint replacement and gave the hospital five-star recognitions for pacemaker procedures and total knee replacements.
Hannibal Regional staff expressed pride in receiving the awards.
"The dedication of our inpatient rehab team is reflected in their efforts to help patients get back to living their lives," said neurologist and inpatient rehab unit Director Brett Hosley. "We treat the whole patient physically, emotionally and socially so that if they can, they are able to go back to doing the things they love."
Midwest Orthopedic Specialists surgeon Curtis Burton added: "On behalf of the orthopedic team of physicians, nurses and staff, it's a privilege for us to be recognized by Healthgrades. We strive for excellence every patient every time."
Hannibal Regional President and CEO Todd Ahrens said he was happy about the awards, too.
"For 115 years, the people of our community have turned to us for quality and compassionate health care. The recognitions from Kindred and Healthgrades only reinforce our commitment to providing the highest quality care," Ahrens said.
"I am proud of our team members for the dedication to our patients and honored we are able to share these recognitions."
