MONROE CITY, Mo. -- A Texas driver suffered serious injuries when the semitrailer rig he was driving overturned Monday on U.S. 36.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Joseph C. McGavern, 47, of San Marcos, Texas, was driving east on U.S. 36 at 2:20 p.m. when the 2012 Freightliner he was driving went off the right side of the road and overturned. The vehicle was totaled.
McGavern was not wearing a seat belt, according to crash investigators. He was taken by Monroe City Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.
The crash led to a temporary closure of U.S. 36 to eastbound traffic as the truck was towed.
Assisting were the Monroe City Police Department, the Ralls County Sheriff's Department, and Monroe City Fire and Ambulance.
