Golden woman injured in deer-related crash

COATSBURG, Ill. -- A Golden woman was injured in a Tuesday night crash after swerving to avoid a deer on U.S. 24.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department reports a 2008 Lincoln MKZ driven by Mikayla K. Janssen, 21, of Golden, was eastbound on U.S. 24, approximately one mile east of East 1850th, at 8:35 p.m. The department said when the vehicle swerved to miss a deer, it went off the road to the south, struck a ditch, hit a power pole and overturned, landing on its top.

Janssen was taken by Adams County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital with moderate injuries.

The department was assisted by the Clayton, Camp Point and Central Adams Fire Departments and Adams County Ambulance.
