Revere man arrested on drug, weapons charges after traffic stop

KAHOKA, Mo. - A Revere man was arrested on multiple drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop Thursday.

The Clark County Sheriff's Department said that a deputy conducted a traffic stop at about 7:40 p.m., and while making contact with the driver, David Wayne Yates, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The deputy also saw two firearms on the vehicle's dash, a Smith and Wesson 380 Caliber M and P Semi-Automatic pistol with a laser and Ruger P95 9mm, a news release said.

A search of the vehicle conducted by Sheriff's Department deputies also turned up several illegal items.

Yates, 32, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams of marijuana (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) more than 35 grams, delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful use of a firearm.

The news release said Yates also was in possession of a large amount of currency.

Yates is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on $50,000 cash-only bond.
