LIBERTY, Ill. -- Two buildings and some equipment burned on the Ron Sorrill farm near Liberty on Monday afternoon.
Brad Denton, assistant fire chief, said the call came in about 3:30 p.m. Firefighters arriving at 695 East 2100th Place found a garage and a barn on fire.
Denton said one fire truck crossed what appeared to be a wooden bridge near the farm, but he kept other equipment from crossing the structure due to concerns about its load carrying ability.
"It was in our Liberty district and we called in Payson, Central Adams and Camp Point for manpower and equipment," Denton said.
Fire crews hauled water which was poured into dump tanks and pumped more than 100 yards up a hill to the one fire pumper near the fire.
In addition to the buildings, Denton said a couple of tractors and recreational vehicles caught fire.
A state fire marshal came to the scene and said the cause of the fire as undetermined.
One firefighter was taken to Blessing Hospital, where he was treated for heat and smoke inhalation. Denton said the unnamed firefighter was then released by the hospital.
