Two seriously injured in Clark County crash

WAYLAND, Mo. -- A Friday night crash in Clark County seriously injured two Iowa residents.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports an eastbound 1998 Dodge Stratus driven by Ricky L. Shuffler, 59, of Birmingham, Iowa, failed to yield to a northbound 2007 GMC Yukon driven by Timothy B. Liechty, 55, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and was struck in the right side at 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 61 and Highway F. The patrol said the Yukon traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned in the median.

Shuffler and a passenger, Dovie G. Shuffler, 57, of Birmingham, Iowa, were taken by Air Evac to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., with serious injuries.

The patrol said the Shufflers and Liechty were wearing seat belts.

The patrol was assisted by the Clark County Sheriff's Department, Lewis County Sheriff's Department, Clark County Ambulance, Lewis County Ambulance, Clark County Rescue Squad, Wayland Fire Department and Wayland First Responders.
