EWING, Mo. -- Vince Billings scattered seven hits and struck out six to help the Clark County baseball team win 7-2 on Tuesday over top-seeded Highland Tuesday in the Class 3 District 8 semifinal.
Clark County (9-8) jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles from Zeb Riney and Evan Cameron. Billings hit an RBI double in the second inning followed by an RBI single from Tanner Elam. The Indians pushed their lead to 5-0 after an RBI fielder's choice in the third.
Tommy Harvey's two-run home run gave Highland (15-6) its only runs of the game.
Cameron knocked in another run in the fourth, and Clark County tacked on another run on an error in the sixth.
Clark County advances to the district finals and will face the winner of the Macon and Palmyra game that was postponed in the top of the fifth Tuesday, with Palmyra clinging to a 2-1 lead. That game will resume at 4 p.m. Wednesday, with the title game to be played afterward.
