QUINCY -- Adams County Collector Terry Asher mailed 35,561 tax bills Tuesday.

Asher said 1,500 more tax bills that require special processing, which includes 1,062 parcels where taxpayers prepaid a portion of their tax in December 2017, will be mailed by Friday.

Most taxpayers should receive their bill by Saturday, May 19. Those who do not receive a bill by Thursday, May 24, should call the treasurer's office at 217-277-2245. Taxpayers now can request to receive future tax bills online through an insert included with the bill.

Taxes may be paid in one payment or in two equal installments. The first installment is due Monday, June 18, 2018, and the second installment is due Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018. Payments may be mailed to or made in person at the treasurer's office. A 24-hour drop box is available near the Fifth Street entrance on the west end of the courthouse.
