QUINCY -- The investigation continues into a reported battery involving Adams County Coroner Jim Keller.
"We're still in the middle of the investigation," said Adams County Sheriff Brian VonderHaar. "We just don't have a lot to release."
Keller said Tuesday after the Adams County Board meeting that he was driving his office's van on the evening of May 10 when someone threw a rock through his open window, striking him in the head.
Keller sent a call out over the radio and sought medical attention for his injuries. He said he suffered a concussion and required three stitches on his head.
Adams County and Keller have been facing scrutiny over the county's indigent death policy where the county assumes possession of a person's remains and the cost of cremation. Loved ones must pay $1,000 -- $800 goes to the funeral homes and $200 to the crematory -- before the ashes are returned.
VonderHaar would not comment whether the policy was related to the reported incident.
"We're not speculating on anything at this time other than we're investigating a battery," VonderHaar said.
