HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Three Hannibal residents were hospitalized after a car and a truck collided Thursday night along Interstate 70 in St. Charles County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 2013 Kia Soul driven by Krysten L. Banghart, 18, of Hannibal, was heading west on I-70, just west of Mo. 79, when the driver "made an unsafe lane change" in front of a westbound 2009 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Max A. Wormack, 48, of Divernon, Ill. The patrol said the truck was unable to stop and struck the rear of the car.

Banghart was injured along with two passengers -- Samantha T. Hampton, 17, and Alayna N. Tierney, 13, both of Hannibal. All three were taken by the St. Charles County Ambulance Service to SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis with what were described as minor injuries.
