QUINCY -- The 16-year-old suspect in a July shooting has been taken into custody.
The male juvenile was arrested Saturday on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant and has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm. The charge is a mandatory transfer to adult court.
On July 19, Quincy Police Department and Adams County Sheriff's Department officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Payson Avenue. They found a 14-year-old male who was alert and breathing who reported being shot in the head. He was taken to Blessing Hospital and released.
The suspect remains in the Adams County Youth Detention Center.
The Quincy Police Department said the investigation indicates that the dispute was personal and not a random act of violence.
