Mount Sterling man injured in crash east of Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG, Ill. -- A Mount Sterling man was injured in a Thursday afternoon crash east of Chambersburg.

Illinois State Police District 20 said a 1996 International three-axle dump truck driven by Daniel P. Clayton, 60, was traveling east on Ill. 104 about a half mile east of Chambersburg at 1:18 p.m. The patrol said the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, partially overturned and came to rest in the ditch, spilling its load of dirt.

Clayton was taken by Pike County Ambulance from the crash scene and then transferred by helicopter to a Springfield hospital for treatment.

The patrol was assisted by Pike County Ambulance, Griggsville Fire Department, North Pike Fire Department, Meredosia Fire Department and Air Evac.
