The Unity girls volleyball team started the Suns Classic in Augusta in impressive style with a 25-16, 25-11 victory over Brown County on Monday. The Mustangs (2-1) were led by Addison Miller's 10 kills and Kaylee Nichols' 21 assists. Brown County's Breanna Gooding had 14 digs.
Central was two points from winning its match against Rushville, but it lost 19-25, 26-24, 15-7. The Rockets scored the first seven points of the third set and never relinquished control. Lauren Gille led the Panthers with 10 kills and four blocks, and Kennady Marlow had six kills and five blocks.
Liberty got the best of West Hancock with a 25-12, 25-15 victory. Paige Knuffman and Taryn Roe each recorded five kills for the Eagles.
Payson Seymour rolled to a 25-18, 25-13 rout of Western. Tori Schieferdecker and Riley Epperson both had seven kills for the Indians (4-2). Tori Predmore had eight kills for the Wildcats (0-2).
Southeastern defended its home court with a 25-14, 25-18 victory over South Fulton. Hope Cheney dominated the match with 16 kills and seven digs for the Suns.
Meredosia-Chambersburg Tournament: Griggsville-Perry lost 25-12, 25-12 to South County on the first night of play at Meredosia. Kaitlyn Leenerts led the Tornadoes with three assists.
Pleasant Hill (0-4) lost to Winchester West Central 25-9, 25-6. Faith Capps recorded three blocks for the Wolves while Madilyn Lanter added two digs.
