TIOGA, Ill. -- A Tioga woman faces charges after a single-vehicle crash involving property damage Thursday morning.

Brittany Powers, 27, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and operating an uninsured vehicle.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department responded about 9:46 a.m. to the crash at 285 North County Road 820 in Tioga. When deputies arrived, they say Powers attempted to flee by driving through a resident's property and back onto the road, then continuing north for about one-tenth of a mile and traveling through a ditch before coming to a stop.

Further investigation revealed Powers initially left the road about seven-tenths of a mile south from where her vehicle finally stopped, the department said. She struck a culvert at 241 North County Road 820 and continued north about four-tenths of a mile before leaving the road again, traveling through a fence and hitting a farm implement, the department said.

Powers refused medical treatment on the scene.

The department said Powers' breath alcohol concentration was more than four times the legal limit of .08. Powers posted bond at the Hancock County Jail.
