Hahn crowned Miss Liberty

LIBERTY, Ill. -- Jenna Elizabeth Grace Hahn was crowned Miss Liberty 2018 Saturday night during the 72nd annual Liberty Fall Celebration.

Hahn, 17, the daughter of Jamie and Jodie Hahn, performed a piano solo and also won the talent portion of the contest.

Miss Liberty 2017 Madelyn Joy Haley presented the crown to her successor.

First runner-up was Emma Lynn Haxel, 15, the daughter of Greg and Dana Haxel, who also was named Miss Congeniality.

Also competing for the title were Katie Paige Wagner, 18, the daughter of Rich and Amy Wagner, and Payton Elizabeth Anderson, 16, the daughter of Jason Anderson and Elizabeth Anderson.

The contestants were judged on interview, a short speech on the theme "shoot for the stars," talent, evening gown and impromptu question.

The winner receives a $1,000 scholarship, awards and other prizes. Scholarships also were given to first runner-up, the winner of the talent competition and Miss Congeniality.

All contestants receive a cash prize and prize package from the Liberty Lions Club and local businesses.

Kenley Kurfman took the title in the junior miss competition, held for the first time at the fall celebration.
