Prep roundup: Unity rallies to extend winning streak to eight

The Unity volleyball team rallied late in the second set to claim a 25-17, 26-24 victory at Beardstown on Tuesday and extend its winning streak to eight games.

The Mustangs trailed 24-22 in the second set when Krista Schrader had a kill for Unity (8-1) to close the gap to one point. Kaylee Nichols then served out the match, and Addison Miller had the match-ending kill.

Nichols had 10 service points, two aces and 22 assists for the Mustangs. Miller added eight kills and nine digs, Schrader seven kills, Alyssa Steinkamp eight digs and Morgan Kasparie six digs. Beardstown falls to 5-4.

Liberty 2, Western 0: Paige Knuffman had 10 kills and Katie Wagner 18 assists to lead the Eagles to a 25-12, 25-16 victory. Kenzie Wagner had seven digs for Liberty (6-4). Aftyn Harrison had 16 digs for Western (1-9).

Pittsfield 2, Brown County 0: The Saukees remained unbeaten by surviving a tough first set and rolling to a 26-24, 25-12 victory. Pittsfield led 17-9 in the first set when Bre Gooding served nine consecutive points to put the Hornets ahead 18-17. The Saukees recovered and scored the winning points on Chloe Walston's serve and a hitting error by Brown County.

Maggie Marable had 10 kills and Morgan Puterbaugh 10 service points for the Saukees (7-0). Brown County (5-7) was led by Madi Henry's five kills. Gooding had 10 digs and five aces, and Lexi Maas added eight assists for the Hornets.

Biggsville West Central 2, West Hancock 0: The Titans' Reagan Eaves had five kills and three aces in a 25-19, 25-11 loss in Hamilton. Gracie Boyles had 12 digs, Dharna Tripp eight digs and Madisyn Andrews five assists for West Hancock (1-10).

Pleasant Hill 2, Griggsville-Perry 0: Faith Johns had 10 service points and three blocks to lead the Wolves (2-8) to a 25-21, 25-18 victory at Griggsville. Marta Molendi had five kills for the Tornadoes (1-7).
