Lady Raiders shut out Kirksville for first win

Brooke Burgess scored two goals to help the Quincy Notre Dame girls soccer team record its first victory of the season with a 4-0 victory Thursday at Kirksville.

Burgess scored in the 15th minute on an assist from Hannah Stroot and again in the 74th minute on an assist from Hilary Obert. Mercedee Esterlein scored off an assist from Jennifer Adam in the 33rd minute and Lauren Stuckman connected a pass to Hannah Marquardt in the 70th minute.

Megan Rabe recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Raiders (1-0-1).

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

C-SC splits: Katie Thomas pitched a four-
hitter and struck out seven batters in the Lady Wildcats' 5-1 win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh Thursday at Pensacola, Fla.

Melissa Goehl led C-SC (8-11) at the plate going by going 2 for 2.

Earlier, C-SC lost to Arkansas Tech 3-1. Sara Eggleston went the distance, allowing four hits in six innings of work. Jessica Webb went 2 for 3.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

QU d. Mercyhurst: The Hawks picked up their first Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association victory of the season with a 22-30, 30-24, 22-30, 33-31, 15-11 victory over Mercyhurst in Erie, Pa.

Peter Coley had 25 kills, while Robbie Coughlin added 15 for Quincy (18-22, 1-9 MIVA).
