J.W. and Elizabeth Mae Durk of Bethel, Mo., Route 1, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner with their children and grandchildren Saturday in Philadelphia, Mo. The event was hosted by their children.

The couple were married May 5, 1948, in Quincy.

Mrs. Durk is the former Elizabeth Justus, daughter of the late Chester Justus and the late Maudie Justus, formerly of Quincy. Mr. Durk is a son of the late Millie Wagner and the late Albert Durk, also formerly of Quincy.

They are the parents of Jim (Patty) Durk of Quincy, Pat (Joe) Fox of Copperas Cove, Texas, Mike and Bobby of the home, David of Newark, Mo., Sandy (Ed) Begley, Mary (Dirk) Davis and Brenda (Duane) Elliott, all of Palmyra, Mo., and Tim (Carol) Durk of Rolla, Mo. They have 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Durk retired in 1991 from Laborers Local 919 after 36 years of employment.

Mrs. Durk is a homemaker.

They are members of Mount Sinai Christian Church in Durham, Mo.

The couple met at a Christmas party.
