Merle and Susan Kenady of Timewell have announced the engagement of their son, Brian Kenady, to Selene Starck, both of Oak Park. She is a daughter of Heather Smart of Cairns, Australia, and Walter Starck of Townsville, Australia.

The bride-elect graduated with honors from the University of Queensland, Australia, majoring in anthropology. She is employed by the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and plans to continue her studies at the Australian National University in Canberra.

The prospective bridegroom graduated from Dominican University in River Forest in December 2007 with a master's degree in library science. He is also employed by the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

The couple will be married Sept. 12 in Cairns.
