The parents of Melinda Christine Peters and Keith Michael Stevens have announced the couple's engagement. She is a daughter of Mike and Susie Peters of 2071 Sycamore. He is a son of Terry and Marie Stevens of Ransom.

The bride-elect is a 2001 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School and a December 2005 graduate of Eastern Illinois University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Miss Peters is a second-grade teacher at Mendon Elementary School.

The prospective bridegroom attended Illinois Valley Community College, studying automotive technology. He is employed in quality control at Vactor Guzzler Manufacturing in Streator.

A June 14 wedding is planned.
