Work crews to reduce traffic to one lane

Work crews plan to reduce traffic along U.S. 36 just east of Shelbina to one lane starting Monday.

Crews plan to install a box culvert under both lanes. Temporary signals and construction signs are being installed this week in preparation for the work.

U.S. 36 will have a one-lane, 12-foot width restriction 24 hours a day until the project is complete in about six to eight weeks.

Temporary signals will control traffic through the work zone and are located from just east of the East Business Route 36 approach into Shelbina to just west of Shelby County Road 462. The east approach to Business Route 36 and Shelby County Road 462 will be closed for the duration of the project.

Lighted message signs will be installed to make drivers aware of the work zone. Motorists will experience some brief delays during the project.

The majority of the work on U.S. 36 is off of the main roadway and motorists have not been directly affected by the construction.
