Lady Hawks ready to defend Tip-Off tourney crown

The folks who showed up at Pepsi Arena for the Quincy University women's basketball team's season opener against Culver-Stockton weren't surprised by much.

The usual suspects — Courtney Shuman, Janette Burgin, Lindsey Stellflue and Whintae Irby — all had big games in an 86-41 victory. But those in attendance got to see a couple of new players deliver.

Sophomore Kassidy Shuman had a solid all-around game with eight points, five assists and four rebounds. Stephanie Wagner, a junior transfer from Lincoln Memorial, showed that she'll fit in quite nicely at Pepsi by canning two 3-pointers as part of a 15-point performance.
