St. James Lutheran Church was the setting for the Oct. 20, 2007, wedding of Miss Kayla Renee Meehan and Jonathan Porter Marshall.

The bride is a daughter of John and Rebecca Swanson of 1523 Springmeier. The bridegroom, of North 13th Street, is a son of Daryl and Janet Marshall of Dubuque, Iowa.

The 2 p.m. ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Marlin Rempfer; the bride was given in marriage by her stepfather, John Swanson. Music was provided by Andy Campbell of St. Joseph, Mo., soloist, and Glenn Boettger of Quincy, organist.

Maid of honor was Kendra Meehan of Quincy, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Melissa Meredith of Ewing, Mo., Susan Douglas of Chicago, Laura Andrew and Meredith Humphrey, both of Quincy, and the bridegroom's sister, Stacy Threlkeld of Kansas City, Mo.

Best man was Nick Whisler of North Liberty, Iowa. Groomsmen were Matt Walters of North Liberty, John Duffel of Greenwood, Ind., Scott Fischer of West Des Moines, Iowa, Michael Meredith of Ewing and Kevin Meller of Coralville, Iowa.

Ushers were Gary Harpole of Nebo, cousin of the bride; Guy Henry of Lee's Summit, Mo., uncle of the bridegroom; and David Liggett of Liberty.

Flower girl was Jenna Meredith of Ewing. Ring bearers were Jonathan Threlkeld, nephew of the bridegroom, and Ashtyn and Aubrey Erwin, cousins of the bride.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bridegroom's parents at Spring Lake Country Club. A reception began at 6:30 p.m. in the Elks Lodge.

The newlyweds are at home on North 13th Street after honeymooning in Nashville and Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Quincy High School and attended John Wood Community College. She is a salad bar manager at Hy-Vee Food Store.

The bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of Hempstead High School in Dubuque and a 2003 graduate of the University of Iowa. He is a manager at Hy-Vee Food Store on Harrison.

The bridal couple were honored with a bridal luncheon prior to the rehearsal at Spring Lake Country Club, hosted by Wanda Harpole, aunt of the bride, and Stephanie Erwin, cousin of the bride; a bridal shower in St. James Lutheran Church, hosted by Carolyn Swanson, grandmother of the bride; a couple's shower, hosted by Anna Mae Liggett, grandmother of the bride; and a couple's barbecue, hosted by Kendra Meehan.
