Pat Quinn told a packed house inside the Western Illinois University student union that he was releasing $60 million in capital investment funds so the university can build a Center for Performing Arts.

    The Quincy School District’s prekindergarten program will remain intact for at least another year. Julie Schuckman, director of early childhood education, announced at Wednesday’s School Board meeting that the Illinois State Board of Education has tentatively approved funding the program at the same $575,000 level next school year.
