    Basketball was king in downtown Quincy on Saturday. The Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament marked its 25th anniversary in Quincy under perfect weather conditions. Clouds that weather forecasters feared would soak the event provided protection from the sun and kept temperatures moderate.

    Adams County residents responded in record-setting fashion earlier this month when the call went out for assistance with the 23rd annual "Stamp Out Hunger" national food drive. United Way of Adams County and the National Association of Letter Carriers, which again partnered to aid local food pantries, report an unprecedented 27,300 pounds of food items were collected. That surpassed the previous high of 22,000 pound in 2014.

    The Quincy Area Vocational-Technical Center is offering a STEM pre-engineering camp this summer for students going into grades 7-9 next fall. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math -- all subjects vital to the study of pre-engineering. The camp, now in its third year, offers a fun way for students to learn about these concepts.
