John Duryea, owner of the Duryea Group Inc., said after 20 years, renewing the franchise with the Steak ‘n Shake corporation “does not make sense economically.” A sign posted Monday morning on the door of the restaurant at 3819 Broadway thanked customers for 20 years of loyal patronage.
