The man is a liar. Why would I want to hear anything he has to say?

: 4/26/2010

If he was speaking in the park, I would go. With him speaking in the OLC, I doubt that I will be able to get a ticket. And I really am not a fan of anything he has done. I am more inclined to go to a Tea Party instead. Macon is holding one on Tuesday in response to Obama's visit.

: 4/26/2010

no

: 4/26/2010

No I'm pretty upset with him,I voted for him,but I'm disappointed that he let everyone in Washington have raise's yet social security and the veteran's didn't get a raise, and we are the one's who needed it!

: 4/26/2010

I'll plan to see his impeachment.

: 4/26/2010

Cancel him and send the money it is costing the taxpayers for him to come to our schools.

: 4/26/2010

Anyone who disagrees with him will be shut down by his handlers. His union thugs will be waiting outside to beat you up.

: 4/26/2010

I would be there if I didn't have to work. I would have gone to see Bush if he came too even though I was not a fan. Its the patriotic thing to do. Whether you like him or not, its an honor to have him here.

: 4/26/2010

Used to be an honor before we got a president who wants to destroy the country as we know it.

: 4/26/2010

Why at Oakley Lindsay is what I'm wondering. Are they charging for a ticket? They charge for everything else they have there? Why not in park

frustrated with the oakley lindsay center

: 4/26/2010

How much is this costing taxpayers? Air Force One, Marine One, secret service crawling all over the place. Cars, limo's, etc. I wish they would take the money which is in the millions of dollars and give to Quincy Public school district.

spend baby spend

: 4/26/2010

Someone is using my OldOne#1 and I will not see the president nor watch him. He can come to my house if he wants but the security guards have to stay outside. I'll let him have a cup of coffee. Oh his dog is welcome.

: 4/26/2010

Its an honor? He does not know what honor is.This guy does not care about the constitution and is a on-the-record liar. He is a disgrace to the office.

: 4/26/2010

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

: 4/26/2010

I knew the question was coming! Well... Since he is going to The oakley Lindsey center. I will not get to watch his lies. So sad. I still wonder if he has ever taken an econmics class because he might learn something about how the economy actual works and not how it works in his imaginary world.

Just hope someone makes sure he see's the results of this poll.

$10 million US Dollars will get you in the ball park (cost of a trip).

: 4/26/2010

The money the city will have to spend on his visit would be better spent creating jobs around here.

: 4/26/2010

I'm hoping to see the motorcade and Secret Service on Wednesday. I wish I had done that when President Clinton was here in 2000.

Ten million bucks, those are some expensive remarks !!

Ouch

: 4/26/2010

He is just going to come here and gloat over his healthcare disaster plan he pushed on us and wax poetic on how we should accept amnesty for illegals. He has ruined this country since he took office and is arrogant and loves listening to his own voice - like a cheap car salesman.

: 4/26/2010

What is the point of this poll. The republicans are still bitter and dont want to see him. They are still crying like the big babies they are. Those are the majority of people who post on here.

: 4/26/2010

The bitterness and utter stupidity of most of the posts on here are an embarrassment. If you don't want to see him, then don't go. But leave your ridiculous whining comments to yourself. Nobody wants to hear them and nobody thinks you're cute.

I voted Democrat because well, we've just always been Democrats in our family. I saw no reason to study or even try to understand politics and policy. Fact is, we trusted the Democratic party to take care of us the same way we have driven Chevrolet's for our entire life. I have seen many President's in person and sometimes at considerable expense for the privilege, but now, I cannot call this many my President. I feel that he has pursued an agenda totally opposite of his campaign. He has lied and jeopardized my family. I am very saddened over the situation so, I'll just stay home. I honestly wonder if we (the U.S.) can recover from this devastation. Again, just very saddened by it all.

: 4/26/2010

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
*** Thomas Jefferson ***

More Jefferson

: 4/26/2010

I study politics as a hobby and an interest. While I do not agree with Pres. Obama, and did not vote for him, I feel that regardless of those disagreements in policy he is the President of the United States and he, and especially the office he holds, deserves our respect. I will not go see him, again I disagree with policies, but I do wish him good health and no ill will. Remember, the voters of our Country, and IL. is a Blue State as we speak, elected President Obama in a fair, legal and open election. If you do not agree with his policies get out and work for candidates you do agree with. Let our process, Constitution and laws work as intended and do not complain when the process does not produce an outcome you like. Work you butt off to bring about the outcome you desire and quit the complaining.

Wow, the Whig is really going to have to pick through these comments to print something in the paper that isn't full of hate, ignorance, or flat-out stupidity.
I'll be working, but might catch it later on TV. Just don't think about throwing a shoe at him.

: 4/26/2010

How much did it cost the taxpayers to fly the stairs here?? How much to shut downtown down for his 30min. visit?? How much to shut the highway down between Quincy & Macon?? How much will it cost the cities, counties and state police to protect him?? Sure wish that money was educating our kids.

: 4/26/2010

Praise Allah he will save us all from you infidels!

: 4/26/2010

KJM - I think the $10 million dollars spent to make some remarks says it all.

: 4/26/2010

Am I going to go see Nobama??? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

: 4/26/2010

Washington has been evolving for years into the Imperial Federal Government. This trip is supposed to impress you with the power centered in Washington DC. Jets, helicopters, Marines, limos, secret men with invisible guns. It is a cheap (but expensive) two-bit road show so Obama can stroke his ego and tell you how good he is.
My money would have been better spent on other things. He should of just sent us the money.

: 4/26/2010

To all those who say that we should respect the president as he is a higher official and things of that matter... I am sorry I thought we lived in a democracy. He is not my king. I neither have to bow down or kiss his butt. Respect is earned, not given.

"I do not agree with most things the prez has done but how dare any of you to comment on his religous beliefs. What if he was Buddist or Atheist would that make a differnce. I didn't know that a certain religion was a pre-requisite for being president."
Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles starting with our forefathers, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, etc. You are familiar with the phrase "In God We Trust" as being american, aren't you? The commander in chief for the U.S. should stand on that principle. If you are "sick of ignorance" you should start in your own home.

Someone has to work to provide the necessary taxes to support those who will see him. They need their government check and healthcare right???? Come on get a haircut and get a REAL JOB!!!!!!

I bet they don't even sell all of the tickets. He should be concentrating on creating jobs instead of listening to himself speak every single day.

Which specific Judeo-Christian principles are you referring to? Is slavery a part of Judeo-Christian principles? Are women not voting part of Judeo-Christian principles? In any event, not that it matters, but if you believe the President is a Muslim you need to double down on your lithium dose.

: 4/26/2010

Yes...I was taught by my parents to "respect" the office...but I also believe the "Office" should respect the Constitution (we the People) sorry but he doesn't respect us (He proved that when he passed the Health Bill when 85% of the people begged him not to Or at least wait.... So why should we respect the "Office" anymore..Sad but true..

: 4/26/2010

The commander in chief for the U.S. should stand on that principle. If you are "sick of ignorance" you should start in your own home."
"In God We Trust" wasn't put on a single coin until the year 1864 and didn't become the national slogan until 1954.
The phrase first printed on money was "E Pluribus Umum," Latin for "One from many parts." The country wasn't founded freedom, not Judeo-Christian beliefs. The Constitution was designed to specifically EXCLUDE anything in regards to any organized religion. 1st Amendment Freedom of Religion anyone? Since you mention Thomas Jefferson, yes he was involved in the church. However, he was one of first vocal supporters of religious tolerance and freedom in the US.
Here's a quote from Washington while hiring on Mount Vernon:
"If they be good workmen, they may be from Asia, Africa, or Europe; they may be Mohammedans (Muslims), Jews, or Christians of any sect, or they may be Atheists."
I could write much longer on the topic of how our founding fathers put faith aside in the Constitution, but anyone who thinks the nation is founded on Christianity is already set in their view and is impossible to crack.

KJM

: 4/26/2010

Correcting myself a little:
The country was founded freedom, not Judeo-Christian beliefs. (Please don't pull a Phil Hare on me :) ) and also I meant to say it was George Washington standing for religious tolerance.
Thomas Jefferson, on the other hand, was very hard on Christianity and Christians.
In fact, Thomas Jefferson agrees with me that the nation wasn't founded on any religious values.
"Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law. " February 10th, 1814.

: 4/26/2010

I chose not to see the President. Did he serve the country in the military? Did he ever work as a clerk or even work in any business that is a small business? Was he not a lawyer and a supporter of ACORN. This is why I chose not to watch him act even more foolish. He talks out of the side of his mouth.

Taxpayer

: 4/26/2010

Barrack Who ?

Confused

: 4/26/2010

KJM, quit making yourself look like a fool. The majority of U.S. citizens are of Christianity background. They will never tolerate anyone of questionable religious background as president. A 2008 survey revealed only 15% of Americans were atheist. Considering these stats, it proves that Christianity has been the dominant belief system in the U.S. for hundreds of years. Get over yourself, you windbag.

: 4/26/2010

I wonder if Odumba will bring his invisible mop and sweep in front of the cameras and his "Quincy crowd" and blame Bush and talk about how he is "cleaning up after the last eight years." That's what I find so awesome about this president. He's full of himself and and has no self respect or respect for anyone else.

: 4/26/2010

Hope his teleprompter goes down. Then you can see what a bumbling idiot he really is.

: 4/26/2010

The people are Christian. The government is non-affiliated (or at least is designed to be). I never said that Christianity was never the primary religion. As for a non-Christian president, I know plenty of Christians, Jews, Catholics, etc that would vote for someone of a different faith. What's important is political views, not where you go to church.

KJM

: 4/26/2010

The majority of the country is Protestant- therefore there should never be another Catholic President?

: 4/26/2010

^^Remember Bush? He was a bumbling moron even with the teleprompter.
Also, most moderate news blogs accepted that when Obama had the Q&A at the republican convention a few months back (no teleprompter), Obama won every argument.

Jalland

: 4/26/2010

Where the heck did you find a moderate news blog?? Most of the blogs that I see are ran by extremist wack-jobs on the right and left!

: 4/26/2010

^^^Catholics and Protestants use the same Bible (or at least very similar) and are sects of the Christian religion, so I don't know what you're getting at with that one.

Glad I Left Quincy

: 4/26/2010

I don't know what planet youn were on Jalland, but the way I remember it....Nobama and President Bush were almost equal in the" Republican " Convention.

The donut chart above does not reflect the question above that. The question requires a yes or no answer. More than that is entertainingly irrelevant. Oh, my response is yes.

waybeyon

: 4/26/2010

I guess that is what the TEA party means about being silent no more. They were silent when republicans wrecked the economy and racked up debt and cherry pick the constitution and bible verses and start wars for profit and Bush was on vacation or in the air every other day blowing through tax dollars. When it's a democrat, they try to outnumber someone so they can shout them down. As soon as they can get the republicans elected the TEA party will go back to being silent again.

: 4/26/2010

When Clinton and Bush were President ...they didn't NEED Teaparties....What does that tell you?

m

: 4/26/2010

I went to see Clinton in the freezing cold, Bush in the heat of the summer when in DesMoines. Seeing a president in person is an amazing thing to witness and I recommend everyone do it at least once. It is very impressive to see the Secret Service in action. I admire them for their dedication regardless of personal opinion. I will not be there for Obama's visit as I do not wish to spend any time in his presence or appear to be supportive of whatever he has come to Quincy to promote. The venue is limited and Obama's agenda does not meet my approval.

: 4/26/2010

I'll be glad to be there, hopefully people will be civil.

mike

: 4/26/2010

Honestly, the Tea Party is a great idea. If only we had it for the Reagan/Bush I/Bush II years. Not to undermine Obama's spending, but to say that we haven't had this spending problem for the last few decades (minus a few Clinton years) is ridiculous.

Jackie

: 4/26/2010

"When Clinton and Bush were President ...they didn't NEED Teaparties....What does that tell you?
m"
That the real thing TEA parties object to is the man's name and complexion? Seriously when your group is suppossed to be "Taxed Enough Already" and most of your members are happy with the incredibly low tax rate they pay there is no chance the anger is about issues. Tea Parties are only a factor on the national scene because they make such great television with their signage and lunacy. It's like Jerry Springer's audience decided to get political

mike

: 4/26/2010

You people are mostly ignorant and a little bit stupid. Middle class taxes are lower than they've been in 50 years .Where were you people when George Bush was driving our country in debt when we in the midst of a surplus and destroying our country's foreign relations?

Sick of small town ignorance. Read a book!

: 4/26/2010

Dont save a set for me. I am sadden by the hatred that our president has brought to our lips but I totally understand the frustration as well.

disappointed teacher

: 4/26/2010

Christianity is so similar to the Muslim religion in regards to violence so if we were to start enacting policy or electing our president based on religious beliefs it would be a very dangerous place in the United States. It's funny that in a recent poll 80% of democrats approve of Obama's performance in the white house and 80% of Republicans are disappointed with his performance. This country has become all about party affiliation. The Democrats are moving further to the right and Republicans/Tea Baggers are moving further into the Insane Asylum.

Tyler

: 4/26/2010

Add another idiot to the list. Some of you people should really grow up.

: 4/26/2010

Obama's latest speech for Youtube is more than enough reason why I would not want to see this incompetent buffoon in person. He states that "young people, African Americans, Latinos, and women" need to get out in vote in 2010. He is well aware that the majority of people who voted him in 2008 have had buyer's remorse for months now. It's funny how QHW tries to spin that the majority in local small towns are "excited" about Obama's visit. Talk about deceit.

: 4/26/2010

For those who refuse to believe that Obama is a Muslim here are some points to ponder.
• He was born to a Muslim father;
• He studied the Koran for five years and can recite its verses to this day;
• He changed his name from Barry Sotero to Barrack Hussein Obama (If not a Muslim why the need to change your name to one that is Muslim?);
• The church he attended in Chicago was not a Christian church but instead anti-Semitic (a cover if ever there was one);
• He bowed to the Saudi Prince;
• He has many ties to suspect Muslims some of whom have terrorist ties;
• He wrote a book praising his deadbeat Muslim father but publicly trashed members of his Christian family that raised him;
• During a George Stephanopoulas interview he referred to his Muslim faith; and
• He is anti-Semite!

Too bad that Quincy is virtually shut down for 48 hours while Obama cruises the countryside trying to sell his flawed policies. No air coming in or out within 80 miles during the time his plane is docked at Baldwin Field. Next time park or dock your plane somewhere else and come by car to Quincy.

: 4/27/2010

No. I just want to know what will happen with Broadway or Maine on Wednesday when the motorcade will be heading to MO. I don't want to be stuck on the other side of town for hours while intersections are being secured. Wish the news media would address this.

Tea is Tasty!

: 4/27/2010

From Fox News: Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, whose campaign for President Obama's former Senate seat has been rocked by the failure of his family's bank, said Monday he plans to appear with the president in Quincy this week. The appearance is considered good news for Giannoulias after the White House's silence fueled widespread speculation that Obama might not campaign for him."
What a crock! Why doesn't QHW cover this?! Obama is going to campaign for this Chicago crook in Quincy! He is down in the polls against Mark Kirk. Hope that Mark Kirk beats this Chicago crook at the polls in November!
Fed up with Chicago politicians including the prez.

: 4/27/2010

Alexi--- who is trying to succeed Burris/Obama for a US senate seat from IL --- is traveling with Obama. Alexi is actually trying to use the failure of his family's business (a poorly run bank) as a reason to vote FOR him.
If Alexi Giannoulias pulls this one off, it'll be one for the annals of political history: He's trying to cast the failure of his family's bank - which he helped run and collapsed because of bad loans ---- as a reason to sympathize with him and vote for him.
Since neither Obama nor Alexi understand business, it is appropriate they travel together --- at the expense of taxpayers.

I am shocked at the comments I am reading. There are alot of ignorant people out there and it appears alot of them are living in Quincy, Ill. No one can control your thoughts but to comment them to print is embarrasing. At least, Pres. Obama is out and connecting with people and trying to fulfill his campagin promises. Please be respectful of him. I have obtained a ticket to see him (at no cost) and am truly excited about the opportunity.

I have no respect for any person who is an obvious liar and is by his own actions a self- promoting politician. Obama has no agenda expect to promote new and financially large entitlement programs and to move this country to a socialist society. If those facts denote ignorance then your blind support for his agenda defines you as a stupid. And as everyone knows, “stupid is forever, ignorance can be fixed”.

So many comments on this site are centered on Obama's religous preferences. Above all, I think he's dedicated more to being an opportunist than to any religion, thus centering his focus on himself instead of God (and I fear Country) He will claim nationality as is convenient and be seen at a church if convenient. He will not give supporting documents to establish facts. He wants to appeal to everyone so he can sell his ideas and agenda. And some support him while most on this site do not.
The one thing that I know is true about Obama is that he has ancestral roots in our community. Those good people were strong Christians and helped settle this area. Those are the fathers of the family that raised him and that he disrespected in his first book, instead seeking to admire the father who abandoned him and his mother so his father could seek his opportunity. Read the book and understand your opportunistic President.

: 4/27/2010

Obama is coming here to talk to farmers and anyone else who will listen about his promotion of his cap and tax legislation that he wants to pass next. He thinks he is so suave with his public speaking that he can unanimously convert people to his agenda = higher taxes, loss of more jobs at a local level, higher heat/electric bills, an energy tax that will affect everything. Anyone who doesn't recognize this man as a socialist who misled the american people in '08 while campaigning just to get their vote is blind and foolish. He is as phony as Phil Hare, Dick Durbin, and the rest of the Chicago liberal bunch.

Remember the whole "you're with us or against us" crap you Republicans gave us then. Well I guess you all have changed your mind. Now it's ok to say whatever you want. I just love that double-standard. The man inherited a heap of problems from Bush and other past presidents but everyone expected him to fix things on day 1. Not possible people. Try to have some respect for the leader of our Country...or as you used to tell me...you can get out!

: 4/27/2010

No, I am not going to see Obama, who is owned by the corporations. But then, I also would not go to see Bush who was owned by the military manufacturers and had "free speech" zones so he could not hear anyone protesting his actions. Bush also took many trips AND spent almost 1/4 of his entire time in office on vacation at Camp David or down in TX. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE HAVE A GOVT THAT IS BOUGHT AND PAID FOR, and it doesn't matter if they have an R or a D behind their names, the real brand is C for corporate shills.

Seen Enough

Why is he so afraid of being seen by the public at the airport? I have never seen a President act this way. Shamfull!

My mother and I have been visiting Quincy for 16 months now, since my Dad was admitted to the Veteran's home, which together with Blessing hospital has the finest people you'll ever meet. As fate has it, we are coming down Wed. 250 miles, staying over, and moving him North to Manteno which is only 30 miles from my mother. We appreciate everything Quincy has given us. No politics on
this blog.

I wonder if the Herald Whig reporter will be brave enough to ask Obama about Al Gore & his Goldman Sachs friends who stand to profit by the billions if Cap & Trade is passed with their credits system? Our world has gone through warming and cooling periods throughout history but now, all of a sudden, some bought & paid for scientists manipulate data so Goldman Sach and friends can make $$$ off of cap and trade, at our expense. They should also ask Obama about his ties to the credit trading board set up in Chicago.

QTP That really stands for Quincy Toilet Paper. What gets wiped by TP ? I guess it's the Republicans.

me Too

: 4/27/2010

When I first heard of the Tea Party, I thought it was great. Finally a conservative movement I can stand behind. Our budget is completely out of hand. Most military workers I'm involved with say that defense spending could be cut over 50%, as it's nothing but an unnecessary welfare jobs program. Even at half the military budget, we'd spend as much as the next 7 countries combined. We also need to reform welfare so that people don't have kids solely to get bigger checks. The government controls what we eat through the FDA (surprised there isn't ANY backlash to this) and subsidizes massive companies that spoon-feed us garbage food full of MSG and other "fake" products. On top of that, the laws control what substances we can and can't put into our body in the comfort of our own home.
What I thought would be a movement of well-educated conservatives full of innovative plans who would be able to work with Obama turned out to be a farce. The "Obama = Muslim = Socialism/Marxism/Communism" signs do nothing to promote conservative values. The quality of the party deteriorated further when "conservative" entertainers like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh backed on to the movement. Then, the bumbling mess of a drop-out governor Sarah Palin becaome the unofficial speaker of the party.
Now that I hear the Tea Party movement has to restrict Freedom of Speech just so they don't make themselves look like fools, the purpose is all but lost. I'm not going to support Obama, but I'll never support the Tea movement either.

Conservative, but no Tea for me

: 4/27/2010

The WHIG party ran this country from 1840 to 1860 after the banking problems in the 1830's.
For me as a Democrat who swings lib. to cons. depending on the issue,
I'm upset at the Dems for not embracing TEA party ideas that make sense, especially from Ron Paul,
a smarter Ross Perot. Our 11th C.D. was won by Mr. McCain and has its own TEA party tonight North of Ottawa but it is on privately owned Republican property.

I have never been so ashamed to call Quincy my home. I love how so many people claim that they are religious, but then hope that something bad happens to someone. They claim that this President is wrecking our country, but failed to do anything during Bush's 8 years where he started an unjustified war and caused the deficit. They said that it's not about race, but then make false comments about him and spew out hate.
This is ridiculous. You can disagree with the person, but why don't you try educating yourselves?

ashamed

: 4/27/2010

Americans deserve better than this president and his agenda to redistribute wealth in the country and his entitlement programs. He has also encouraged democrat congressman like Phil Hare to lie to his constituents about how many jobs he "created or saved" in his district. These people never stop lying.

Well “ashamed” you stated Bush started an “unjustified war and caused the deficit” and has the great socialist leader BH Obama stopped this “unjustified war and reduced the deficit. Heck no, he has expanded the war effort in Afghanistan and has proudly passed a new 1 trillion dollar plus entitlement health care law which will cause massive deficits for many generations. And he is not through spending massive amounts of our tax money yet on other programs to cripple this economy.
What a hypocrites you Obama sheeple are! You can blame Bush for many things except for the massive mistakes this “community organizer” is inflicting on this former republic.
SHAME ON YOU “ashamed” because you are part of the problem, not the solution!

QHW Headline: Obama says U.S. must lead world in clean energy production during tour of Fort Madison plant
This is proof that Obama has every intention of passing cap and tax legislation his first term. You see how he says the U.S. "must lead"? It's Obama's way or the highway. November 2010 can't come soon enough to throw these Democrats out of office and take away Obama's power from destroying the country. I have never seen more of an arrogant windbag that Barry Soetero aka Odumba.

GS is all over the news so probably not since you can find out all you want about them. They are under scrutiny for their involvement in the financial melt down. Remember? 2008 almost a year into the recession former GS CEO Bush Treasury Sec Paulson was left in charge of the economy to write the bailout for AIG and Wall Street while Pres Bush took an olympic vacation in China and play in the sand pit with the volleyball girls. Good thing he was on top of his game then.

I am always amazed and disgusted how the anti-Bush crowd cannot make a comment without using derogatory names and petty insults. Seems to be a character issue. Same with the liberal left. When you look at the comments and compare character, the conservative right certainly presents their point with more dignity. hmmm... 'nough said.

: 4/27/2010

"you know...the park where they had that famous "President" Debate?"
It was a Senate debate, Einstein

: 4/27/2010

I really wish that Obama had the guts and dignity to appear in the park, instead of the controlled environment of the OLC. Is this due to security concerns? fear of rain? or just a need to control the environment to provide the correct PR angle? It makes it feel like his visit is not for the masses, but for his limited purpose. I personally do not like that our tax dollars are spent to further his agenda without allowing all local citizens to have access to the president. It seems like another example of an out of control political machine busy at work. Consider this when you place your vote in 6 1/2 months. Vote out the political power brokers and vote for true representation.

: 4/27/2010

Obama packed his town hall in Ottumwa with his brainwashed supporters and union thugs. It will be the same in Quincy. It's his way or the highway. The corrupt and biased media puts their blinders on and let's them get away with it. What a bunch of liars and cheats.

: 4/27/2010

I think that anyone who actually WANTS to be president is a little bit off, if you know what I mean. That being said, Obama isn't that bad. You don't have to like him, but you gotta know where we came from with the Bush era. Big improvement in leadership.

: 4/27/2010

"the controlled environment of the OLC. Is this due to security concerns? fear of rain? or just a need to control the environment to provide the correct PR angle? It makes it feel like his visit is not for the masses, but for his limited purpose."
This has been his entire presidency thus far. Think about it for a second. He was on the golf course when the Fort Hood shooter killed military personnel in Texas and took his sweet time about making a statement. Even then, he did a shout out to someone before he ever mentioned the tragedy at Fort Hood in his televised speech. Recently he flew to Afghanistan (overnight) and did an express visit to the troops there. How long was he with the troops or even in that country? Less than 24 hours? Likely so. He blames Fox News for his bad PR. He blames Bush. He blames the Tea Party and said they should be grateful for reduction in taxes. This is a president who is a control freak and passes the buck consistently, not to mention has too big of an ego and initially said the "war on terror" was over. Let's not forget one other important fact. With the recent signing of the Arizona immigration bill, he called it "misguided" and "irresponsible." Take notice that he actually encourages anger on such volatile national issues; thus the protests in Phoenix against the bill and those people actually smeared refried beans on the windows of the state capital in the shape of swastikas. This is encouraged by Obama. He never does anything to try to discourage this behavior but he thinks conservatives are well, he blames Bush. He is such a coward.

: 4/27/2010

Have you ever inherited control of a large project, or company? Do you know what it really means to be 'in charge"? Often times you are merely a voting member with many employees offering advice and their own opinions. I imagine it's the same for the President, no matter who he or she is. Security isn't something you control, you have other people control it. Your speeches aren't something you 100% control, yet everyone nit picks every word. You don't get to choose the state of the nation when you start, yet everyone expects you to please everyone in a very short period of time, no matter how broken it is to start with. I feel for the guy, voted for him, and don't expect 100% support from Americans, nor do I expect the impossible - to have him please all of the people at any one time. It's just not possible. Folks, he's a politician. They say what they can with good intention to win your support. Often times your wishes (or as others call them "promises") aren't practicable and you are forced to deviate. This will always upset those who track words vs actions, but it doesn't necessarily mean he was lying in the first place. No matter who you voted for, or which party you prefer, they all have that challenge.
Now I have to admit, I am not a fan of Mr Bush, and could write a book on the reasons why, but I just think that he, and Obama aren't really in control of this nation. It is FAR to large and complex for one person with one brain to control. That is the truth. He REPRESENTS our nation, and for that, I think he is doing a good job. It is up to the 1000s of other members of congress to assist in managing this great nation. He signs on the dotted line, after all other's have weighed in, sometimes rather reluctantly. I gotta say, I wouldn't wish that job on anyone.

: 4/27/2010

Does anyone out there know exactly how many days this president has actually spent in the White House running our country so far?? And is this money he is spending mean that the ppl in hannibal and other towns on the river, will have to wait even longer for the flood buyout from 2008??

To the idiot who wrote that, I ask: Name one person who was denied a ticket when they stood in line Tuesday in Quincy. Just one. PROTOCOL No. 16
Read the Protocols of the Elders of Zion....you will see their plan is slowly unfolding, here is Protocol 16: "brainwashing"
1. In order to effect the destruction of all collective forces except ours we shall emasculate the first stage of collectivism - the UNIVERSITIES, by reeducating them in a new direction. THEIR OFFICIALS AND PROFESSORS WILL BE PREPARED FOR THEIR BUSINESS BY DETAILED SECRET PROGRAMS OF ACTION FROM WHICH THEY WILL NOT WITH IMMUNITY DIVERGE, NOT BY ONE IOTA. THEY WILL BE APPOINTED WITH ESPECIAL PRECAUTION, AND WILL BE SO PLACED AS TO BE WHOLLY DEPENDENT UPON THE GOVERNMENT.
2. We shall exclude from the course of instruction State Law as also all that concerns the political question. These subjects will be taught to a few dozen of persons chosen for their preeminent capacities from among the number of the initiated. THE UNIVERSITIES MUST NO LONGER SEND OUT FROM THEIR HALLS MILK SOPS CONCOCTING PLANS FOR A CONSTITUTION, LIKE A COMEDY OR A TRAGEDY, BUSYING THEMSELVES WITH QUESTIONS OF POLICY IN WHICH EVEN THEIR OWN FATHERS NEVER HAD ANY POWER OF THOUGHT.
3. The ill-guided acquaintance of a large number of persons with questions of polity creates utopian dreamers and bad subjects, as you can see for yourselves from the example of the universal education in this direction of the GOYIM. We must introduce into their education all those principles which have so brilliantly broken up their order. But when we are in power we shall remove every kind of disturbing subject from the course of education and shall make out of the youth obedient children of authority, loving him who rules as the support and hope of peace and quiet.
WE SHALL CHANGE HISTORY
4. Classicism as also any form of study of ancient history, in which there are more bad than good examples, we shall replace with the study of the program of the future. We shall erase from the memory of men all facts of previous centuries which are undesirable to us, and leave only those which depict all the errors of the government of the GOYIM. The study of practical life, of the obligations of order, of the relations of people one to another, of avoiding bad and selfish examples, which spread the infection of evil, and similar questions of an educative nature, will stand in the forefront of the teaching program, which will be drawn up on a separate plan for each calling or state of life, in no wise generalizing the teaching. This treatment of the question has special importance.
5. Each state of life must be trained within strict limits corresponding to its destination and work in life. The OCCASIONAL GENIUS HAS ALWAYS MANAGED AND ALWAYS WILL MANAGE TO SLIP THROUGH INTO OTHER STATES OF LIFE, BUT IT IS THE MOST PERFECT FOLLY FOR THE SAKE OF THIS RARE OCCASIONAL GENIUS TO LET THROUGH INTO RANKS FOREIGN TO THEM THE UNTALENTED WHO THUS ROB OF THEIR PLACES WHO BELONG TO THOSE RANKS BY BIRTH OR EMPLOYMENT. YOU KNOW YOURSELVES IN WHAT ALL THIS HAS ENDED FOR THE "GOYIM" WHO ALLOWED THIS CRYING ABSURDITY.
6. In order that he who rules may be seated firmly in the hearts and minds of his subjects it is necessary for the time of his activity to instruct the whole nation in the schools and on the market places about this meaning and his acts and all his beneficent initiatives.
7. We shall abolish every kind of freedom of instruction. Learners of all ages have the right to assemble together with their parents in the educational establishments as it were in a club: during these assemblies, on holidays, teachers will read what will pass as free lectures on questions of human relations, of the laws of examples, of the philosophy of new theories not yet declared to the world. These theories will be raised by us to the stage of a dogma of faith as a traditional stage towards our faith. On the completion of this exposition of our program of action in the present and the future I will read you the principles of these theories.
8. In a word, knowing by the experience of many centuries that people live and are guided by ideas, that these ideas are imbibed by people only by the aid of education provided with equal success for all ages of growth, but of course by varying methods, we shall swallow up and confiscate to our own use the last scintilla of independence of thought, which we have for long past been directing towards subjects and ideas useful for us. The system of bridling thought is already at work in the so-called system of teaching by OBJECT LESSONS, the purpose of which is to turn the GOYIM into unthinking submissive brutes waiting for things to be presented before their eyes in order to form an idea of them .... In France, one of our best agents, Bourgeois, has already made public a new program of teaching by object lessons.

The term NAZI is an acronym that was derived from Hitlers "National Socialists" ( NA) and the Zionists (Z I ), in partnership towards manipulating the Jewish people of Germany to adopt Zionism and relocate to Palestine which would eventually threw terrorist force become Israel.

Lets face it folks. The only reason he is anywhere near Quincy is the place to land the plane. I still have not figured why they didn't do the whole trip out of Des Moines. It would have been one less stop, no more total miles travelled and they would not have even had to deal with us Quincyeans. Also why in the heck are they driving to Macon and back when they had 5 Marine one helicopters in the area. What a waste of taxpayer moneys and inconvenience to the travelling public on US 36. Just gett'in to OLD to understand all this.

: 4/27/2010

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates taught his students that the pursuit of truth can only begin once they start to question and analyze every belief that they ever held dear. If a certain belief passes the tests of evidence, deduction, and logic, it should be kept. If it doesn't, the belief should not only be discarded, but the thinker must also then question why he was led to believe the erroneous information in the first place. Not surprisingly, this type of teaching didn't sit well with the ruling elite of Greece. Many political leaders throughout history have always sought to mislead the thinking of the masses. Socrates was tried for "subversion" and for "corrupting the youth". He was then forced to take his own life by drinking poison. It's never easy being an independent thinker! Today, our ruling government/media complex doesn't kill people for pursuing the truth about the world (at least not yet!) They simply label them as "extremists" or "paranoid", destroying careers and reputations in the process. For many, that's a fate even worse than drinking poison hemlock!
Every news story you are about to review in this comprehensive research paper is true and easily verifiable. This investigation represents 10 months of careful study, research, analysis, source verification and logical deduction. Every event and quote presented here is 100% accurate. There are over 190 detailed footnotes which I encourage, no, urge, readers to explore and verify for themselves. The Internet version of this paper will allow users to obtain instant verification for each and every footnote by clicking on the footnotes/links. Others can obtain easy verification by entering the key search words (provided at the end of the paper) into the Yahoo or Google.com search engines. Due to the fact that well organized efforts are under way to suppress these facts, some of these news links are mysteriously disappearing even as we speak. Fortunately, this information has all been transcribed by many web users and is has therefore been preserved from the censors. These footnote searches will take you directly to the news sites of many well known established media organizations throughout the world as well as opening up doors to a world of knowledge and information that has been concealed from you. With just a little common sense and a few clicks of a mouse, Google and Yahoo now enable anyone with an ounce of curiosity to become a Sherlock Holmes.

The unfortunate truth is 95 percent of the people have a "lemming" mindset...and they never actually ever learn anything for themselves, instead always relying on what they heard from the media or something else often simply adopting an opinion that fits their world view. Anything that requires thought or analysis is ridiculed and discarded. Ever watch a lemming? One runs off the cliff....and the rest blindly follow.....lol.

For those of you concerned about the time the president spends away from the White House -- George W Bush, while president, spent 487 days at Camp David + 490 days at his Texas ranch, for a grand total of 877 vacation days while in office. That equals 2.4 YEARS on vacation while president. Yet he managed to start 2 illegal wars, run our country into massive debt and give the wealthiest 2% big tax cuts. Think what Bush could have accomplished if he'd spent the other 2.4 years at work!!!

: 4/27/2010

After reading a lot of these comments, I have to agree with Ron White. For those not familiar with Ron, he is one of the Blue Collar commedians. Ron tells a story that applies here. You can be deaf and thru the miracle of modern surgery your hearing can be repaired so that you can hear a pin drop. You can be almost legally blind and get surgery so you can see 20/20. You can have plastic surgery to make yourself look youthful again. But there's one thing you can't fix -- YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID. Apparently Quincy has a lot of unfixable stupid.

: 4/28/2010

Hey wise up. The president's approval rating is currently 48.4% and has not been anywhere near 49% for several months, possibly a year. The majority of Americans don't like him. It's a fact and it doesn't have anything to do with Tea Parties, Sarah Palin, or Glenn Beck. They don't like the president and want him out of office as soon as possible. Accept it and move on, alright? Look at the overwhelming views on the pie chart above and stop your whining.

: 4/28/2010

I was in line yesterday for a ticket, but the line was long and I had to leave without one. There was no bickering in line. There was a diverse group of people in line across many generations and I was proud to be standing in it. I have a teenager who stood in line also, but was too late and did not get a ticket so apparently there are a lot of Obama fans. I am proud he even took an interest in seeing the president and wanted to hear what he had to say.
I am ashamed of the comments made on this board and glad my child will not read this.

: 4/28/2010

I am going to put it straight... I don't care about Obamas color, religion, or weather he spends his life on vacation. I disagree with his poltics and think he is to young and unexperienced for the job. The more you tax businesses (be it big or small), They are going to have less incentive to hire people because they are making less money. Giving them a tax break stimulates an economy because they are more money to spend. You can give all the tax breaks to middle and the poor class that you want but it isn't going to create jobs. The businesses are the ones who create the jobs. Which creates a trickle down effect. Businesses hire more people which gives more money for those employees to spend making more jobs. Also less people on government aid. Another thing, When you hire an employee for a senior position to run a company, Are you going to hire the younger guy who has very little experience of how to run a company or the other guy who has tons of experience. Sorry but I want someone who has the knowledge and experience... Not someone who can be run like a puppet. Also, Why are they taking the day in the public schools to talk about obama??? Sorry but poltics should not be in the schools until at least high school government class. Don't care which president is in town, be it any party.

I hope someone will get the oportunity to address him about housing & the loan situation, I feel he should make banks create loan programs for the under priviledged credit score. we will pay rent for the rest of our lives, if we can't get a loan. create $$ and special programs for folks like me to get a loan.

: 4/28/2010

I hope everyone remembers today that no one will hear what you are for if you are yelling about it, they only hear the noice. Offer your ideas in a calm manner. I am at work or I would be in the hall listening to what the President has to say becuase if you disagree with someone you owe it to them to hear their side of the story and then offer yours. The winner of a debate is not who can yell the loudest
And to the poster wanting banks to give home loans to those with low credit scores, they did that up until about a year ago and that is why we are in the worse economic slow down since the 30's. Homes should be hard to buy. So should everything else for that matter. Too much free credit is a syptom of our get it now society. Work hard, put away money and save for the things you want. It's supposed to be hard. In the words of Tom Hanks in A League of Thier Own, "The hard is what makes it great"

Is Obama the devil or a muslim or a muslim devil trying to take all our guns away and turn us into muslim robots? Makes you miss the good ole days when the prez claimed God told him to run for prez and God told him to start a war. Nothing ambiguous about those kind of delusions.

It is awesome that their are people that question the president's motives and actually speak out! Regardless of whether you agree or not, Isn't it nice to express your thoughts in this still-free country?
"Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it."

No I will not go see him....
All I can say is....
Smile...This too, shall pass

Wait until your cit/county/state get the bill for his visit.
It may surprise you how much it costs. See article in
www.citizentimes.com for his expenses to Asheville, NC.
Was it worth it? NO! Our state is almost as broke as IL.

"I am ashamed of the comments made on this board and glad my child will not read this."
Boo hoo. Perhaps you will have to shelter your child from the average political views from every man and woman on the street also. Get over yourself because this is reality.

: 4/28/2010

I only shelter my children from people who are rude, disrepectful, full of negative comments, and have no substance in their message. My children have a right to form their own opinion and don't have politics shoved down their throat. They are entitled to have an opinion and not get jumped on by idiots like you making snyde remarks. THey are taught to respect the President whether you agree with him or not.

Here he goes again, spending taxpayer dollars to fly all over the country. Didn't know there was a border problem in IL, MO, or IA

Blah, blah, blah. We get it that you're angry because over half of the nation wants him out of office and will vote to see that he is a one term president. It's called a right to free speech and power of a citizen's vote. By the way, it's snide, not snyde. You act as if a president has never been disrespected before. Where have you been living, in a cave? FYI, look up your history sweetie. In the last several decades there have been successful and unsuccessful attempts on a president's life. *rolling eyes*

: 4/28/2010

I think you're missing the point. Both the extreme left and extreme right, or anyone who doesn't have any substance (or truth, in many cases) in their words don't need to be heard. Yes, it's your Constitutional right to free speech, but that doesn't mean anyone needs to listen or care what you have to say.
There are a few comments on this board worth reading, but most of it is ridiculous and embarassing to any conservative parties.

Conservative, but no Tea for me

: 4/30/2010

It is just as embarrassing and irresponsible for Bill Clinton to say that Tea Party members are "the fringe and likely similar to Timothy McVeigh." All that does is ignite anger and create even more divisiveness in the country. This is something that Obama takes delight in it seems. After his criticism of the Arizona immigration law, it ignited protects against the state capital in Phoenix. His mocking the Tea Party about "they should be happy because I lowered their taxes" is just as irresponsible. With his "blame Bush" rhetoric, he has proven himself to be reactionary and takes many things personal when he wasted many months and should have created jobs instead of lying with the failed stimulus package. He is perceived as a liar. That is his own doing.

: 5/11/2010

No if I went or watched him on tv, he would take my wallet, and my credit cards, and redistrubute them to other members less fortunate than myself. If I turned him on TV my house would no longer belong to me, and with his Obamavision he could actually see what he could take out of my house...no sir, the futher I am from him the less it cost me part of my personal net worth...He he stands on your property long enough, more than two seconds, he will think it is his to give away...I would keep him on the move...and hide all your stuff

Hanging on for dear life itself
