Advertising Representative

The Herald-Whig advertising department seeks an advertising representative to be part of an award-winning, media-savvy, results-driven sales team. 

The candidate we are seeking should be flexible, able to juggle several tasks, have good attention to detail and work under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will be someone who is smart and perceptive about managing demands, time and products while working in a fast-paced environment.

In addition to strong interpersonal skills, the successful candidate will display:

  • Interest in digital media
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent numerical and analytical ability
  • Ability to think creatively and proactively
  • Strong organization and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work on one's own with increasingly less direct supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • A strong understanding of basic marketing skills with a solid ability to relate ideas and solutions to your customers
  • The ability to provide exceptional customer service and support across an array of multi-media products

A college degree in marketing or advertising is preferred with at least one year successful marketing, advertising or customer service experience.

A valid driver's license is required.

Classified Sales Representative

We are looking for a professional, energetic and customer-focused Classified Sales Representative to work in our classified call center in Quincy.

Duties include contacting existing and potential new commercial customers via outbound calls, creating and scheduling print and online ads, as well as assist in managing walk-in customers.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment utilizing a computer and phone as their primary workplace tools. Effective problem solving, organizational and communication skills will be essential, in addition to a pleasant telephone voice and a desire to offer exceptional customer service.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred
  • Previous sales or customer service experience
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills
  • Adept with Windows computers
  • Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm
  • Excellent spelling, business grammar and writing skills

Advertising Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Assistant to the Advertising Director
  • Scheduling pre-prints to insert in the newspaper
  • Special section roll-outs and recaps
  • Assist with client contracts (tracking and filing)
  • Communication with staff
  • Research for special projects
  • Assemble packets for new advertisers
  • Co-op processing
  • Advertising reports
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Part-Time Distribution Driver
