Third quarter recap
Less than two minutes into the second half, the Lady Raiders built their biggest lead of the game.
Gengenbacher, who had 16 first-half points on the strength of 5-for-5 shooting from the floor and 6-for-8 accuracy at the free-throw line, made it a 42-31 when she took an assist from Chloe Barnes and converted in the paint with 6:19 left in the quarter.
GodBold, back in the game with three fouls, went back to work. She scored five points, including a conventional three-point play, to spark an 8-0 spurt by Marshall.
A jumper by Terranika Reynolds with 4:37 left in the period pulled the Commandos witin three at 42-39.
It was during that run that Gengenbacher had to go to the bench after picking up her third foul, robbing QND of its most consistent offensive threat. The Lady Raiders functioned much better without Gengenbacher than Marshall did without GodBold.
The Lady Raiders managed to push their lead to 50-43 with 1:26 left in the quarter on a Renita Bunte layup after she had picked Jasmine Poteete's pocket.
Marshall scored the last four points of the quarter on a bucket by Sarah Rogers, who missed a chance at a three-point play with 49 seconds left, and a hoop by Laquentra Lemons off a Rogers feed with eight seconds left.
The Commandos outscored the Lady Raiders in a quarter for the first time to give itself a chance going into the final quarter.
