Edwin and Vivian Schulte

Edwin and Vivian Schulte of 1325 Locust will celebrate 60 years of marriage with a holy Mass of thanksgiving at 8 a.m. May 4 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited.

Mr. Schulte and the former Vivian Frericks were married May 8, 1948, in St. John Catholic Church.

Mrs. Schulte is a daughter of the late Albert Frericks and Pauline Boesing Frericks. Mr. Schulte is a son of the late Alois Schulte Sr. and Thecla Mueller Schulte.

They are the parents of Paula Leak of Chicago, Laurian J. of Orange, Mass., the Rev. Mark of Springfield, Francis R. of Quincy, Bradley of Fowler, Claudia Coggeshall of Camp Point, Roch G. of Quincy, Matthew J. of Ursa and Brother Aaron, OCSO, of Trappist, Ky. They have 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Schulte retired in 1988 from Prairie Farms Dairy after 40 years of employment. He was an active hunter and fisherman.

Mrs. Schulte is a homemaker and a member of the Ladies of St. Francis, St. Francis Funeral Choir and was active in Birthright for 15 years.

They are members of St. Francis Catholic Church and enjoy flower and vegetable gardening.

The couple and their entire family will celebrate with their son, Aaron, at the Gethsemani Monastery in Trappist in June.

Mr. and Mrs. Schulte met through his brother, Don Schulte, and his girlfriend, Rita Muehlenfeld, who was Vivian's friend in grade school and high school.
