The parents of Ashley Klinginsmith and Justin Meyer have announced the couple's engagement. She is a daughter of Jeff and Jackie Nickell of Liberty. He is a son of Jim and Charolette Meyer of Fowler.

The bride-elect, of Charleston, is a 2002 graduate of Liberty High School and a 2004 graduate of John Wood Community College. She attends Eastern Illinois University, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in English in 2006 and will graduate in May with a master of arts degree in English with a composition and rhetoric concentration. Miss Klinginsmith is an English instructor at Lake Land College.

The prospective bridegroom, of St. Joseph, Mo., graduated in 2005 from JWCC and in 2007 with highest honors from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with a bachelor of science degree in agribusiness, farm and financial management. Mr. Meyer is a grain merchandiser for Bartlett Grain in St. Joseph.

The couple plan a May 24 outdoor wedding.
