You are a lover of garage sales.

You've been cooped up all winter.

You don't want to go broke paying for gas, but you certainly want to start sale-hopping.

You have someplace to go Saturday.

The Herald-Whig's Monster of a Garage Sale is back for its second year. The event is sponsored by Tom Geise Plumbing, and is the first of two indoor garage sales scheduled for this year. Two also were held in 2007.

Donna Rupert, promotions director for The Herald-Whig and event coordinator, said more than 100 booths will be featured inside the Oakley-Lindsay Center starting at 7 a.m. She said all 150 booth spaces have been sold, with some buying double spaces.

There'll be a little bit of this and that for everyone, she said.

"People haven't really been able to go to garage sales all winter," Rupert said. "Now they can go to over 100 garage sales in one spot and not have to drive all over town."

About 6,000 people attended the first Monster Garage Sale last March. Strollers will once again be allowed on Saturday.

"We didn't want to discourage anyone from coming," Rupert said.

Admission is also dropping a bit. It's $2.50, and a coupon for 50 cents off admission has been running in The Herald-Whig. A coupon, as well as a map and descriptive listing of what is at each booth, appears in today's edition.

The first 2,000 people through the door Saturday will receive a free Herald-Whig, compliments of York Street Thrift Shop.

The OLC's concession stand will be open. There will also be a moonwalk set up in the lobby area for children, sponsored by Bounce Unlimited.

"We encourage everyone to come out in large groups," Rupert said. "You just don't know what's going to be at that next booth."
