Evans Recycling begins curbside pickup of yard waste
Evans Recycling has resumed picking up yard waste at curbside in Quincy.
Collections are made on the same day that a resident's garbage is picked up.
The same rules will apply this year. The company will collect most kinds of general yard waste, including grass, leaves, brush, small branches and other types of natural vegetation. Loose material should be placed in biodegradable paper bags or reusable containers. Reusable containers should be marked with a large "X" to distinguish those containers from garbage cans.
Homeowners should only put vegetation in their containers -- not trash, dirt or rocks. Containers and bags should weigh no more than 40 pounds. Collection crews also will pick up small branches, which should be bundled with string. Bundled sticks should be no more than 3 feet long and an inch in diameter.
The company also operates a yard waste drop-off site on Radio Road. The site is currently open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, but a spokesman said the hours will be changed to 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at some point this spring.
